“Women burned, sold, raped … the brutal reality of India”
There’s a saying in India, “I hope you father a thousand boys”, because that means that a thousand women will have to pay a dowry to marry their children.
Twelve million girls come to the world every year in the Asian country, one of the worst places to be born a woman, because such bad luck makes them something to be gotten rid of or to sell as soon as possible. Many mothers abort when knowing the sex of the baby. There they call it a feticide.
The path of girls to becoming women, is not easy. In India, one woman is raped every 20 minutes and another is killed every hour.
